It stands for second generation of web based communities and hosted services such as social-networking sites, wikis etc which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing information between users.


Webmaster

The individual assigned to administering a corporation or organization's web site. This person lays out the information trees, designs the look, codes HTML pages, handles editing and additions and checks that links are intact. In addition, he or she monitors, routes and sometimes responds to email generated by the site

 

WYSIWYG

What you see is what you get. A type of editor used for creating and editing web pages.


Webmaster

Person who designs and maintains web sites to make them more users friendly.


Wiki

It’s a web application / collaborative software which allows users to add content and also allows anyone or the members of the group to edit the content.Â


W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)

It’s a standards organization which develops common protocols that promote WWW evolution and ensure its interoperability. The web standards that have been defined by the W3C include HTML, CSS and XML.


WHOIS.ORG

It’s a database of information that lists who owns which domain name and other related details on the web.


White hat SEO

It refers to ethical practices approved by search engines for marketing websites on the web.


Wordpress

It’s an excellent open-source web publishing system or content management system for blogging. Its written in PHP and backed by a MySQL database.
