Hybrid directory
It refers to the directory that uses both directory listings and search engine listings.
Header tag
It’s the HTML tag that denotes the header of a web page.
Heading Tag
It’s an HTML formatting tag that is used to enhance the overall look of web pages. It has 6 sizes. <H1> being the largest and <H6> being the smallest.
Hacker
Earlier it refers to the person who pushed the ability of a system to its maximum performance through smart programming techniques. But now the term is most popular for people who illegally gains access to your computer system or redirect your website to some other page through the use of some scripts or other deceptive techniques.
Hidden text
It’s a form of spamming search engines by using the same text color for keywords as that of background of a web page so that it remains visible to spiders but not to human visitors. But now the search engines easily detect this deceptive technique and often ban those sites.
Hypertext / Hyperlink
It’s a form of text or graphic in a document that links to another document; also called an anchor linked to other documents that can be accessed by clicking on the linked word, phrase, or image in a web page. This is how spiders access and rank the web pages in their index. E.g.

HTTPS
It stands for ‘Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol Secure’. It’s a protocol used by web browsers and web servers to encrypt and decrypt user page requests and the pages returned by the server.
Hit Web Server
It’s a request for a file from a web server. Downloading a web page represents multiple hits because a web page is made up of multiple files, such as graphical files and other elements which makes up the page.
