Cookie

It’s basically a message given to a web browser by a web server. It’s the information stored on a user's computer by a web site so preferences are remembered on future requests and logins.


Cache

It is a block of memory for temporary storage of data for frequently accessed information. Retrieval of the information is faster from the cache than the originating source. There are many types of cache including RAM cache, secondary cache, disk cache, and cache memory etc.


CGI (Common Gateway Interface)

It refers to interface-creation scripting program that allows web pages to be made on the fly based on information from buttons, checkboxes, text input, etc. Most of the web forms often use CGI scripts to send information to server and vice versa.


Cloaking

Cloaking describes the deceptive techniques of serving a different page to a search engine spider than what a human visitor sees. This technique is abused by spammers for keyword stuffing.


Copyrighting

It’s the art of creating web page copy that is unique and qualitative according to the theme of the site and also which is compelling enough for visitors to perform the action according to your desire.


Conversion Rate

It’s the statistic measurement criteria used for online marketing. It’s the ratio of the number of visitors who take a desired action (fill out form, make purchase, etc.) to the number of visitors who view the page.


Click-through rate

It’s a way of measuring the success of an online advertising campaign. CTR is obtained by dividing the number of users who clicked on an ad by the number of times the ad was delivered.


Content management systems (CMS)

It’s a software system used for the management of the content and updation of your website. CMS facilitates the easy organization, control, and publication of a large body of documents online.


Content-rich doorways

It refers to doorway pages that contain lots of heavily keyword-optimized content just to get higher SERP placements.

 

Crawlers

These are the search engine programs that “crawl” from one site to another, following the links given to them and include them in their index.

 

Cross-channel tracking

It’s a feature that allows PPC users to track their PPC programs with different cookies on different computers.
